Youth Athlete Recovery.....

In this day and age our youth athletes are being pulled in hundreds of different directions. They are expected to keep up their grades, play their sport to the best of their abilities, and maintain a social life!

We as coaches need to stop expecting our youth athletes to perform like pro's! Professional Elite Athletes have everything at their disposal. Chiropractors, massage therapists, doctors, athletic trainers, nutritionists, etc. etc. etc.

Our young athletes have to sit in school for 6 hours a day, go to practice, and then do home work! Throw on top the fact that most schools have very unhealthy nutritional choices. And you have a recipe for constant break down, and no recovery!

Recovery/ Regeneration is just as important if not more than the actual workouts/ practices that these athletes are put through! KIDS NEED REST!

When are we going to realize that we can NOT treat/train youth athletes like adults! We have to cater to their development! We have to allow them proper rest! We have to promote proper nutrition!
